Learn about the history of our family, our restaurant and our cuisine
The history of Mandarin-a cult place for traditional Chinese cuisine in Milan-began in 1974: in that year King Sing Cheng, formerly chef of La Pagoda, opened the restaurant’s first location in Via Bellotti, Porta Venezia area.
Although the chef recently moved from China with his family, his son King Yan Sang is already ready to carry on Mandarin’s success by opening a new location.
In 1979, thanks to the commitment and passion of Yan Sang and his wife Carmela, Mandarin 2 was born in Milan (on Viale Piave), later moving to Via Garofalo, Città Studi area, in 1992.
Carmela (of Sicilian descent) and Yan Sang, with a rich background in Eastern culinary tradition, managed to create a unique combination of two very different cultures.
After two decades, the management of Mandarin 2 in Milano Città Studi is passed to his children, who grew up in the restaurant. The current owner, Chun Yi, supported by the incomparable Aunt Antonella, carries on the family tradition and leads a highly professional and courteous team, always attentive to customer needs.
Mandarin 2 in Milan is an institution, representing the union between the oriental flavors of Chinese cuisine and the careful selection of raw materials typical of the best Italian gastronomic realities. Prompt and attentive customer service puts the customer’s wishes and requests at the center, and the customer is welcomed and celebrated with an excellent menu.
The Mandarin 2 staff is active, participatory, and involved in the restaurant’s choices. Always ready to advise and provide information on every single dish included in the menu, the staff puts all their experience at the service of customers. Customers are welcomed with passion and courtesy so that they can feel truly immersed in the restaurant’s sober and relaxed atmosphere, ready to savor the chef’s offerings.
